With Gopuffs very successful launch in the US, we were tasked with their nationwide launch by providing leafleting staff and sampling products across the UK.

The Brief

We were approached late in October 2021 by Philadelphia-based American grocery delivery giant Gopuff, (they operate in over 650 US cities and deliver more daily deliveries in the US than Amazon!) who were just about to launch in the UK, with a last-minute request. They had been let down by another promotional staffing agency who could not handle the size and logistics of the campaign they required. Their request, 50 leafleting staff per day and product sample distribution across 46 different London locations, distributing 360,000 samples and the same volume of flyers, oh and can we start in 2 weeks please? Not a problem at all!

The first task was to work out an on-street promotions logistics plan for 46 separate locations, with each location being targeted on 3 separate days and with 50 promotional staff distributing flyers and samples per day. The next task was to obtain all licenses and permits from the relevant councils for the product sample distribution, as well as organise the multiple deliveries and pick back-ups by couriers.

Next on the list was the graphic design and branding of 12 bespoke sampling bins that the product sampling staff could distribute from on the street. Finally, the promotional staff, well we are a promotional staffing agency after all! We kicked off the campaign, on schedule and budget, with a large photoshoot in Trafalgar Square where we had 100 branded promotional staff carrying 1,000 branded balloons, well you can never have too much branding!

Results

Not only did we distribute all flyers and samples as per the promotional campaign plan, Gopuff then asked us to extend the campaign for a further 2 weeks as they were so impressed with the results, volume of enquiries and app downloads. The relationship went from strength to strength with the 2022 New Year launch in outer London and the surrounding areas, which was quickly followed by a Gopuff app download event in our very own pub, No Such Place, where we distributed free drinks when customers downloaded the app. Finally, we were privileged to be asked to help find a site (researching locations and submitting all paperwork and permit applications) for a photo shoot to announce Gopuffs sponsoring of the McLaren 2022 F1 car.
